Linda Sue Newton, 73, of Hartford City, formerly of Marion, passed away at 9:15 pm on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Ball Memorial Hospice in Muncie. She was born in Greeneville, Tennessee, on February 9, 1948, to Clifford and Rosetta (Jones) Baskett. On January 15, 1977, she married John W. Newton, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2013.
Linda worked on the assembly line at Wabash Technologies for several years. She loved solving crossword puzzles and watching game shows on TV. She was a creative woman who enjoyed art and writing, as well as playing piano until her arthritis wouldn’t allow her to anymore. Linda was a very organized woman and took pride in keeping a neat home. She liked cooking for her family. Linda was a vocal woman who had a strong personality. She will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her sons, Steven “Bubba” Dodson of South Bend, Raymond Dodson of Hartford City, and Randy Dodson of CA; grandchildren, Kayla, Brandon, Nolan, Trey, Ryan, and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Levi, Landon, Alayna, Audrey, Layla, Evan, Emerlynn, Mia, and Andora; sisters, Carol (Steve) Gary and Judy (Bob) Sanders; plus several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Billy Dodson.
The family will hold a celebration of life service at a later date.
