Marion Police Asking For Information on July 4th Shooting

MARION – On July, 4, 2020 at approximately 1:48 pm, Marion Police responded to the 300 Block of East Swayzee Street for a shooting.
Upon officer’s arrival they located Julian Alvarez, age 50 who appeared to have a gunshot to his lower right leg. Alvarez was treated by police personnel as well as Marion General Hospital medics.
David Moore, age 46 who resides at the residence reported that the victim was in the back yard with a large wrench when he was shot by the suspect. Moore reported that after the shot was fired the suspect fled through an opening in the fence. Officers attempted to speak with a neighbor who was outside; however, the neighbor reported that he hadn’t heard or seen anything.
Alvarez gave two different accounts of the incident, but described the suspects as a tall white male who was wearing black shorts and with long hair and had a black handgun.
