Huntington Company Moving To Mexico

HUNTINGTON,Indiana — In a press release on Tuesday, United Technologies Electronic Controls in Huntington announced that it plans on relocating its manufacturing department to Mexico, a move which would cost the community over 700 jobs. The company, which makes microprocessor-based controls for the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, said that the move to Monterrey, Mexico, would occur over the next two years and, if the move is approved, there will be immediate impact on jobs. Regardless of the move, UTEC’ headquarters, marketing and engineering departments would remain in the Huntington area. According to UTEC’s managing director, the move will help the company remain competitive and meet the needs of their customers.
The move is subject to talks with union representatives.
