HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN KOKOMO NEED RELIEF AID

THE RED CROSS IS PRESENT ON THE GROUND WITH VOLUNTEERS AND TWO SHELTERS OPEN

Indianapolis, IN – The American Red Cross is responding to damage caused by tonight’s storms across multiple counties including; Howard, Montgomery, Allen, Wabash and Miami.

“We are committed to supporting residents in affected areas,” said Chad Priest, Regional CEO for the Indiana Region for the American Red Cross. “We will continue to work together with our Red Cross volunteers and our partner agencies making sure people have their basic needs and know the Red Cross is always there.”

The Red Cross has shelters open in Kokomo and New Ross:

  •   Kokomo Event & Conference Center (1500 N Reed Rd, Kokomo, IN 46901)
  •   Walnut Elementary School (3548 S 775 E. New Ross, IN 47968)

Individuals affected by the storms are encouraged to contact the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross at: 317-684-1441. People affected by the Kokomo tornadoes can visit: redcross.org or the Indiana Red Cross headquarters at: 1510 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.

I am extremely thankful that there were no lives lost or reports of serious injury,” Friend said. “I’ve called upon the governor to provide the highest support to the areas that were impacted. Thank you, Gov. Pence, for all that you have already done for us. As we work together to rebuild, I know that our community will fully recover.”
