Phyllis J. McCoy, 89, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Wesleyan Health Care in Marion, Indiana.
Phyllis was born on September 9, 1927, in Upland, Indiana, the daughter of Chet and Gladys (Gregg) Waggy. Phyllis married the love of her life, Robert E. McCoy, in 1952. They were married for 62 years when Bob passed away on January 25, 2015. They built two homes together, loved to travel, and visited 46 states. Phyllis worked as a packer for Owens-Illinois in Gas City. She loved to play bingo, cards, and computer games. She also enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and going on road trips.
Survivors include two sons, Robert McCoy, Jr., and Mark (Tonya) McCoy, both of Marion, IN; two daughters, Linda Gordon, Marion, IN, and Belinda Sage, Gas City, IN; sister Dorthea McVicker, Orlando, FL; aunt Fern McQuiston, Marion, IN; 16 grandchildren, Brooke Heisler, Amber Johnson, Megan Zwolanek, Jenna McCoy, William McCoy, Jr., Wade McCoy, Brad Songer, Chad Songer, Amy Harrah, Charity Sage, Sonia Lewis, Shannon Hasty, Ryan Thomas, Kalee Carroll, Amanda Blake, and Adam Young; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chet and Gladys Waggy, husband Bob McCoy, son William McCoy, Sr., and sister Joanne Hall.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, May 15, 2017, at Armes-Hunt Funeral Home & Cremation Services College Park Chapel, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Ron Forsythe officiating. Burial will follow the service at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
