WABASH, Ind. – The Wabash City Police would like to remind all citizens National Police Week is May 15-19.  In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day.  According to recent statistics, in the United States there were 135 police officers killed in the line of duty in 2016.  National Police Week is a way to honor the fallen and show support for law enforcement officers who risk their lives daily to protect the citizens they serve.  Wabash City Police are inviting citizens to illuminate their porch light with a blue bulb or tie a blue ribbon on their car antenna to show their support for law enforcement. The Wabash Police are asking citizens to “Fly The Blue.”
