Karen A. Herrera

Karen A. Herrera, 77, Marion, passed away at 12:46 pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, June 6, 1945, to Wendell and Lela (Imel) Fuller. 

Karen graduated from Bloomington High School in 1963 and married her loving husband, Vivencio Herrera, on January 26, 1974. They shared 42 years together before he preceded her in death on May 22, 2016. Karen was an LPN for many years and her nursing profession led her to employment at Bloomington Hospital, War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, and nursing homes. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. 

Karen was an accomplished musician and had played in many churches throughout her life, including services at the VA and St. Paul Catholic Church. She had also been a part of three different operas. While a student at IU, she was a member of the Singing Hoosiers and, since 1977, she participated in the Easter Pageant. 

Survivors include her daughters, Kelly A. (Rico) Herrera-Horton and Rebecca T. Herrera; grandchildren, Zaman, Richyia, Ja’Vierre, Del’Rea, and Del’Reann; and a host of cousins and extended family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Larry A. Fuller. 

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. 

On Saturday, June 25, 2022, a funeral service to celebrate Karen’s life will take place at the funeral home at 10:00 am, preceded by an additional hour of visitation from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Entombment will be at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
