Food Truck Plaza to premiere during May First Friday

WABASH, IN—Downtown Wabash, Inc., in collaboration with local food truck vendors, will launch a specially-curated Food Truck Plaza during May First Friday: Bike & Bloom. Located in the heart of downtown, the plaza will feature eight to nine food trucks at Veterans Plaza during Wabash First Fridays through October.

“We are extremely grateful to partner with local food truck vendors and are eagerly awaiting the premiere of Food Truck Plaza during May First Friday,” says Downtown Wabash, Inc. Executive Director, Kristen Petruniw. “The Food Truck Plaza will offer a unique dining experience, a ‘one-stop shop’ for the whole family, attracting visitors and improving the pedestrian experience downtown during Wabash First Fridays.”

The vision behind Food Truck Plaza is to provide a designated space for visitors to effortlessly access a diverse array of food offerings for the whole family to enjoy amidst a lively outdoor atmosphere. During May First Friday, the plaza will include picnic tables generously donated by the Wabash Parks Department, allowing families to enjoy their meal in a safe and comfortable space.

Consideration for Food Truck Plaza participation was based on a first-come, first-serve basis, and prioritization was given to local Wabash food trucks as well as those previously involved in Wabash First Fridays. During May First Friday, Food Truck Plaza will feature Emmett’s Paddy Wagon, Fairfax Coffee Company, Carol Sue’s BBQ, JB’s Cuisine Machine, Payne’s Fish & Chips, The Franklin Mobile Bar, Amor Colombian Food, Amazn AZN and Nick’s Dog Cart.

“We are thankful for the collaborative effort between our organization and participating food truck vendors,” says Carly Hawkins, Downtown Wabash, Inc. Downtown Coordinator. “Each food truck has varying needs, from serving window sides to electricity requirements. It was like a big puzzle to make sure they fit properly in the plaza and all needs were met. The puzzle is finally complete and we are excited for Food Truck Plaza’s debut.”

Food Truck Plaza at Wabash First Fridays is a program of Downtown Wabash, Inc. Additional food trucks may be available throughout downtown if previously coordinated between food truck vendors and downtown businesses. Any food trucks located outside of Food Truck Plaza will not be coordinated through Downtown Wabash, Inc. Community members and visitors are encouraged to dine locally at downtown restaurants and available food trucks during Wabash First Fridays.

Wabash First Fridays in 2024 are presented by MetalX. Additional support for Wabash First Fridays come from Top Level Sponsors: Pettit Printing and 95.9 KISS FM.
