Wilma J. Rust

Wilma J. Rust, 94, Marion, went to be with the Lord at 6:20 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. She was born in Marion on March 15, 1923, to the late Thomas and Inez (Burke) McCullough and was a lifetime resident of Grant County. Wilma married Clifford Rust on December 22, 1940, and they shared nearly 62 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 25, 2002.

Wilma attended Marion High School and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She worked at the Book Nook and was actively involved with the WCTU, of which she was President for 30 years. Wilma had also dedicated 40 years of her life to sing in the Easter Pageant each year. She was a long-time Salvation Army bell ringer and worked at the voting polls.

She is survived by her sons, Clifford L. (Janis) Rust, Sr., Marion, and David T. (Carlene) Rust, Jonesboro; 7 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; and niece, Carrie (Denny) Stephens, Fort Wayne.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Gerald, Morris, and Charles McCullough, Ruby McCleery, Mary Agnus Schoeff, and Albertine Loftis.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Wilma’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Pastors Terry Bishir and Ron Weller will be officiating with burial following at Converse Cemetery.
