Virginia “Jenny” Mae Compo

Virginia “Jenny” Mae Compo, 75, Gas City, passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2019, in her home.  She was born in Marion on March 21, 1943, to DeForrest Hockett and Pauline (Hueston) Kelly.  On May 4, 1974, she married Milford Compo, and he survives.

Jenny attended Mississinewa Community Schools and worked at Twin City Healthcare Center in Gas City, where she was a CNA.  She enjoyed going to rummage sales, crocheting, quilting, crafting, collecting dolls, and rescuing animals.  She especially cherished the times she could spend with her family and also when they could winter in Arizona.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Milford Compo; children: David A. (Gaylene) Baker, Kaufman, TX; Kelly L. Harris, Jonesboro; William D. “Tag” Baker, Gas City; Tommy Hueston, Perry, MO; Travis (Jessica) Johnson, Wake Forest, NC; and Randall W. Compo, Marion; sister, Laura Floyd, Wabash; brother, Greg Kelly, Gas City; sister, Valerie (Dennis) McHarry, Marion; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and lifelong friend, Pat Hurst.

Jenny was preceded in death by her father, DeForrest Hockett, who died when she was very young; mother, Pauline Kelly; step-father who raised her, William Kelly; two brothers; and three sisters.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Jenny’s funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating.  Burial will follow at Estates of Serenity.
