Susan Denise (Flohr) McBride

Susan Denise (Flohr) McBride spirit left this earth on August 24, 2023, a mere two days after marking her 68th birthday. Born in Wabash, IN to Earl & Norma Jeanne (Sincroft) Flohr.  Susan always referred to Lagro, IN as her home, as it was where she spent the formative years of her life before eventually finding a semblance of settled life in Cincinnati, OH.

Susan achieved academic excellence, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Xavier University on May 7, 1998.

Known for her remarkable sense of humor, Susan was celebrated for her sharp wit and brutally honest demeanor.  A connoisseur of diverse musical genres, from James Brown’s ‘Get on Up’ as her phone alarm to Men at Work’s ‘Who Could It Be Now’ as her ringtone, Susan found solace and joy in the transformative power of music.

As varied as her playlist were the mementos she collected from her journeys. Each item in her surroundings held a story, a narrative she delighted in sharing with friends and family. Unbeknownst to many, Susan harbored a passion for poetry, relished kitchen dance parties, savored exquisite cuisine, and found unparalleled joy in the company of her great-grandson Hayden.

Susan loved people, her people, and she loved them hard.  Preceding her in death was the love of Susan’s life, Norbert Thiemann, affectionately known as Norbie, and her great, great-nephew Ian Allen.

Surviving Susan are the most cherished individuals in her life: her daughter Carey Marcum, grandson Jacob Amlung, granddaughter Cecilia Sommer, and great-grandson Hayden Amlung, all residing in Cincinnati, OH.  She is also survived by stepchildren Norb Thiemann, Michael Thiemann, step-grandchildren Jessica Thiemann, Johnathon Thiemann, Holly Thomas, and Kaya Moreno.  Additionally, her siblings Bradley (Cheryl) Flohr (Conway, SC), Steven Flohr (Cape Coral, FL), and Michelle Freiburger (Fort Myers, FL) survive her, along with nephews Michael Allen, Ryan Howard, Brooks (Christine) Flohr, and great-nephews and nieces Heath Allen, Chase Allen, Cassidy Flohr, Melody ‘Gracie’ Allen, Kassidy Allen, Kaitlynn Allen, and great, great-nephew Aiden Allen. Susan held a special place in her heart for all her cousins and her dear friend Rita Triplett.

A wake to celebrate Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, November 25, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Partners Eatery, 14 W Canal Street, Wabash, IN 46992. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend. In accordance with one of Susan’s final wishes, attendees are encouraged to enjoy her diverse musical playlist and raise a toast with an ice-cold Labatt, commemorating the fond memories shared with her throughout her impactful journey in each of our lives.
