WABASH, IN- Tuesday night the Wabash Cannonball Chili for Charity Cook-off Committee, along with their long-standing partner, Wabash County United Fund, awarded twenty Wabash County Charitable Organizations with an incredible $44,500. These proceeds were raised during the 20th Annual Chili Cookoff Event, where nearly 3,500 attendees made their way to Paradise Spring Historical Park to taste countless variations of homemade Chili. The event was held the 3rd Saturday in October of 2023, as it is each year.
This year’s event was really special because it was the 20th annual cookoff. The Chili Committee felt that a great way to promote the 20th was to support 20 different local charitable organizations. The following organizations were awarded at tonight’s ceremony:
LaFontaine Liberty Township History Club
Babe of Wabash County
The Women’s Clubhouse
Wabash River Defenders
Foundation for Art & Music in Education
The Honeywell Foundation
Junior Achievement, Serving Greater Wabash

The Wabash County Chili Cookoff has become a staple to our community. In the 20 years the event has taken place, the committee has awarded over $740,000. Of this amount, their partner Wabash County United Fund has matched $160,000, showing incredible support for both the Chili Cookoff event and the community as a whole. With the money raised, the Chili Cookoff Committee has been honored to award funds to over 80 charities. Who knew such a fun event could be so rewarding for everyone involved, especially our local charities doing amazing work in Wabash County.
