Ronald Leon Harris, 81, of Roann, Indiana, passed away at 12:14 pm, Friday, November 24, 2023, at his home. He was born on January 13, 1942, in Roann, to Russell S. and L. Elizabeth (Favorite) Harris.
Ron was a 1960 graduate of Roann High School. He served in the US Army, where he was a tank mechanic, at Fort Carson, Colorado. He married Avis Awker in Mexico, Indiana on August 31, 1962. Ron owned and operated the B&R Phillips 66 gas station in Roann, and later retired from the Wabash County Courthouse. He was extremely proud of all three of his grandchildren and never missed any of their school and sporting activities. Ron was ornery and was always making people laugh. He loved his family, Bobby Knight, IU Basketball, Donald Trump, and watching Fox News. His infectious laugh will be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Avis Harris of Roann; two children, Teresa (Jason) Coe and Ronald (Angel) Harris, both of Wabash; three grandchildren, Rachel (Elsiana Crosby) Coe of Bainbridge, Indiana, Caleb Coe and Matthew Coe, both of Wabash; and his sister, Darlene (Keith) Ballee of Denver, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Tom, James, Larry, and Robert Harris; and his sister, Patricia Sucher.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Rd., Roann, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.
