Rev. Dr. Keith Wesley Drury

Rev. Dr. Keith Wesley Drury of Brooksville, Florida, passed from this life to the next leg of the through-hike on April 7, 2024, at the age of 78. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and faithful friend.

Keith was an ordained minister for 52 years, serving in various denominational official capacities for The Wesleyan Church for a quarter century until 1996. He then served for decades as Associate Professor of Practical Ministry both at Indiana Wesleyan University and at Wesley Seminary, the latter of which he was instrumental in launching. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 2012. Keith loved to get people thinking and was the author of more than a dozen published books and countless columns, articles, and curricula.  He is, perhaps, most often remembered for the timeless book Holiness for Ordinary People.

He was known as a teacher, speaker, leader, advisor, author, futurist, mentor, encourager, and provocateur. Yet, Keith preferred to just be called “Coach” by his thousands of students.

Keith is survived by Sharon, his wife of 56 years, and his sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kathy, John and Amanda, as well as six grandchildren: Maxim, Karina, Lauren, Sam, Clara, and Paul.

Memorial services are planned at Brooksville Wesleyan Church, Brooksville, Florida, at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, and at College Wesleyan Church, Marion, Indiana, at 1:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Wesley Seminary for a scholarship in Keith’s name by designating the “Keith Drury Memorial”.
