R. Kathryn Ply, 80, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:55 pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her home. She was born April 1, 1938 in Wabash County, Indiana to Elmer Hansen and Ruby Louise (Yost) Evans.
Kathryn married John Henry Ply in Wabash on October 5, 1957. She was a homemaker, factory worker, and was also a cook at Wabash Healthcare and Miller’s Merry Manor eight years. She attended the New Life Baptist Church in Wabash County. Kathryn was a member of the Women of the Moose, T.O.P.S. Chapter 771, the Red Hat Society, and a longtime member of the Wabash Women’s Bowling League. She enjoyed traveling and going to Gun Lake in Michigan.
She is survived by her husband, John H. Ply, and two daughters, Kimberly (Troy) Brewer, and Mary Kathryn “Kathy” (Walter W.) Woods, all of Wabash; six grandchildren, Jennifer Brewer of Wabash, Kristi Brewer of Peru, Indiana, Tyler Brewer of Wabash, Amanda Woods of Akron, Indiana, Walter J. Woods and Danielle (Matt) Sommers, both of Wabash, eight great grandchildren, sister, Mary “Elaine” Hutton of Wabash, and her brother, Leroy (Pam) Hansen of Markle, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant daughters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Scott Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-7 pm Friday, at the funeral home.
