PERU, Ind. – At 5:48 PM on Tuesday the Peru police were dispatched to Gallahan Truck Stop located at 2964 W 100 N for a property damage vehicle accident. Upon arrival Peru officer Wyrick spoke with the driver of the vehicle, 84 year old Ray Shelmadine Jr., and stated he accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake as he was parking. This caused the driver to drive through the handicap parking stall and handicap sign. The wall of the building sustained major damage to the exterior wall and the interior wall. The vehicle sustained major front damage but the driver was not injured in the accident.
