Paul Richard Hazelwood, 81, Jonesboro, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Crothersville, Indiana, on June 8, 1942, to Sherman and Cordelia Faye (Owens) Hazelwood. On October 21, 1961, he married Helen Irene Trosper and she preceded him.
Paul started working at Glass Container in 1960 and retired in 1982. Paul never retired, he worked several jobs throughout his life. He truly enjoyed working and keeping busy. When not at work he enjoyed working outside, around the house, or on lawnmowers. He was a NASCAR fan and loved NFL football, especially the Colts. He enjoyed spending time with his family; he always looked forward to having cookouts with them.
Survivors include his children, Kyle (Angela) Hazelwood, Tracy (Lisa) Hazelwood, Robert Hazelwood, Beth (Mike) Brown and Cozetta Hazelwood; grandchildren, Curtis, Heather, Tony, Angel, Ty, Chris, Megan, Travis, Brooke, Matt, Zach, Ashley, Rachel, TJ, Tara, Mary; 31 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and siblings, James (Marge) Tatlock, Edward Hazelwood, and George.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Cordelia Hazelwood; wife, Helen Irene Hazelwood, siblings, Melvin Hazelwood, Thomas Hazelwood, Kenny Hazelwood, Walter Hazelwood and Alice Ross; and great-grandsons, Bryce Deeter and Devon Deeter.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Paul’s life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
