Patty Jo Hawkins

Patty Jo Hawkins, 66, of Gas City, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Marion on August 23, 1956, to Oscar and Josephine (Simmons) LaShure.

Patty graduated from Mississinewa High School. She had worked at Holiday Inn, Family Fireworks, The Shirt Shed, McGuire’s Tomato Factory, and ran carnival games. She was a member of Servant Community Church. Patty enjoyed camping, playing card games and board games, and getting together with her family. She loved going fishing. Patty was a kind-hearted, loving and honest woman who was dedicated to others. She will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughter, Karla Kay (Jeremy Banter) Hawkins of Marion; grandson, John Lee (Alex) Hawkins of Jonesboro; granddaughters, Samantha (Josh Lawson) Gerstorff of Marion and Emma Banter; sisters, Harriet (Kenny) Ritter of Gas City and Nyoka (Andy) Kennedy of Marion; brothers, Lonnie LaShure of Gas City, Rex A. Colbert and Carl Colbert; plus several nieces, nephews and friends, special niece, Donita Melick of Gas City; special friends and family, Bill Gibson, Betty Denney, and Jim (Diane) Caldwell.

In addition to her parents, Patty was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Lee Gerstorff; sister, Virginia (Danny) LaShure; and brothers, Rex LaShure, and Joe Colbert.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, September 30, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Patty’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark Atkinson officiating. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Fairmount.
