Mize Has Grand Champion Steer

WABASH,IN   It was a memorable day for 4-Her Katie Mize on Tuesday.
Mize’s animal was named the Grand Champion Steer during the Wabash County 4-H Beef & Veal Show.
Earlier in the day, her heifer was named the Grand Champion Heifer.
“I’ve made a lot of memories with my steer and I couldn’t thank my family enough and I definitely couldn’t have done it without my older brother,” she said after her win.
As for the heifer championship, she said, “There were a lot of good Heifers here today and the other kids worked just as hard as I did, so I’m very humbled and honored.”
Heath Lambert’s animal received Reserve Grand Champion Steer and Grand Champion Born and Bred Steer.
“This is the first year I’ve done really well and it’s an awesome feeling,” he said about his awards.
In other presentations:
— Emma Hoover received Grand Champion Rate of Gain Feeder honors.
— Chase Howard received Grand Champion Born and Bred Heifer honors.
— Benjamin Snyder received Grand Champion Beef Feeder Calf honors.
— Sarah Hines received Grand Champion Dairy Feeder Steer honors.
In the Veal Show, Michelle Hunt received Heavyweight Veal Calf Champion and Grand Champion Veal Calf.
During the showmanship competition, Corbin Rager received Senior Beef Showmanship and Supreme Beef Showmanship, Baylee Swain received Intermediate Beef Showmanship, Alison Swain received Junior Showmanship, and Chase Howard received Rookie Showmanship at the 4H Beef and Veal Show.
Wednesday, July 13th, the Swine Show will be held at 8am in the Show Arena. Wednesday, on the free stage event, Pearson’s Mill will perform at 5pm.
