Max C. Downhour

Max C. Downhour, 94, of Montpelier, IN, passed away   on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Bridgewater Centre in Hartford City, IN.  He was born on Wednesday, March 12, 1924, in Matamoras, IN, the son of Everett C. and Maude B. (Glover) Downhour.  He married E. Rosalie (Weatherholt)  Downhour on Saturday, August 26, 1944 in Bluffton, IN.  Max was a 1942 graduate of Montpelier High School. He was an electrician for many years, retiring in April of 2001, and received his journeyman’s card from the US Army. He was a member of the Montpelier Masonic Lodge # 600 F &AM where he had served as Past Master, a Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason, Fort Wayne, IN, a Mizpah Shriner, Fort Wayne, IN, and the Union Local # 873, Kokomo, IN. Max served his country in the US Army during World War II serving in the states.

Loving  Survivors Include his Sons – Steve (Wife, Jani) Downhour, Hartford City, IN, Stuart (Wife, Sharon) Downhour, Montpelier, IN, Grandsons – Nathan Downhour, Montpelier, IN, Ross (Caitlin) Downhour, Columbia City, IN, Granddaughters – Dawn Dowdy, Orland, CA, Cassandra Schroeder, Bluffton, IN,  and several Nieces & Nephews.

Max was preceded in death by his Wife – E. Rosalie (Weatherholt) Downhour, Father – Everett Cliffton Downhour, Mother – Maude Burnice (Glover) Downhour, Brother – Keith Downhour, Sister- Bernice Downhour, Daughter- Cathy L. Schroeder, and Sister-in-law – Nettye Downhour.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier, IN. 47359 on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. With a 7:00 P.M. Masonic service at the Funeral Home. Viewing will also be held one hour prior to service on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

A service to celebrate Max’s  life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 with Pastor Lloyd Hall officiating. Graveside Military rites will be conducted by the Millard Brown American Legion.  Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
