Lila Jean (Hamilton) Haynes

Lila Jean (Hamilton) Haynes, 85, Marion, went to be with the Lord in her home at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.  While holding the hand of her best friend and husband, with her children near, the heavenly gates opened and welcomed her to her final destination.  To her knees she would fall; she didn’t need to imagine any longer.

Born in Anderson on November 26, 1932, to Aubrey and Ruth (Feurer) Hamilton, Lila graduated from Anderson High School in 1950.  On October 25, 1952, she married the love of her life, Ralph L. Haynes, and they moved to Grant County in 1961.  She was a homemaker and served her family faithfully.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion.  Lila was also a well-known and respected local artist, and she was a member of Grant County Art Association.

She leaves her husband, Ralph, of 65 years; children, Richard (Lilly), Pensacola, Florida, Jeffrey (Susan), Boca Raton, Florida, Gary (Karen), Parsons, Kansas, and Dixie (Ken) Millhone, Tampa, Florida; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Aubrey, Keith (Barbara), and Dick; sister, Kay (Sal) Rinaldi; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Aubrey “Doc” and Ruth Hamilton; brothers, James and Robert; sister, Jane Todtenbier; and granddaughter, Kyla Harrold.

The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Lila’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the funeral home.  Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
