Mary Sue Colwell, 80, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana.
She was born in Silver Point, Tennessee on September 24, 1937 to Ernest N. Smith and Josie (Crook) Smith. She married Clen Colwell on August 26, 2012. Mary was an avid lover of the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league.
She is survived by her husband, Clen. Also surviving are her children, Anita Flitcraft (husband Ron), Cathy Sue Jones (husband Leon), Robert Goodman Jr. (wife Lisa), George Wayne Colwell (wife Julie), Theresia Ann Pogue (significant other Rick), Bill Colwell (wife Jill), and Cathy Jones (husband Frank). In addition, Mary has 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Ernest Smith Jr. and Bud Smith. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Benjamin Smith and Aaron Smith, and sisters Dorothy Thorpe and Flossie Cover.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 5-8 pm at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. The funeral service will be on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11 am with Pastor Mary Ruth Everding officiating. There will be calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana.
