Mary Helen McCormick, 92, Gas City, passed peacefully at Twin City Nursing Home on Friday, July 20, 2018, at 5:10 a.m. She was born in Bedford, Indiana on April 15, 1926, to the late Hubert and Gertie (Shoemake) Greene. On May 27, 1942, she married Cleve McCormick, and he passed away in 1982.
Mary Helen retired from Owens Illinois after 35 years. She and Cleve had two sons. Mary Helen and Cleve loved to travel in their R.V. She also loved reading, doing crossword puzzles and adored her pets and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Robert (Linda) McCormick, Gas City, and Randall (Sharon) McCormick, Gas City; grandchildren, Robert C. McCormick Jr., Fairmount, Randall L. McCormick Jr., Gas City, Jeffrey (Carolyn) McCormick, Columbia City, Curt (Angie Brooks) McCormick, Gas City, Stacey (Troy) Brown, Gas City, and Amanda (Joshua) Goins, Jonesboro; 11 great-grandchildren,10 great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Charles Greene and Roy Greene; sisters, Nancy Frazier, Fern Worthen, Betty Pence; infant sister Jeanetta Marie and special friend Earl Bagley.
The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Services for Mary Helen will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Estates of Serenity.
