Mary Ellen Zinsmeister) Scheiber, 66, of Huntington, IN passed away August 25, 2016 at 3:55 AM at her residence in Huntington, IN.
Mary Ellen was born on August 27, 1949, in Huntington, IN, to J. Eldon and Dorotha (Gilbert) Zinsmeister. Her parents preceded her in death.
Mary Ellen was a 1967 graduate of Huntington County Community High School. She received her Bachelor of Science from Manchester College in 1971. She was a dispatcher for over 30 years for the City of Huntington and the Huntington County Sheriff Department. She attended Union Church, Huntington, IN. She was an Independent Demonstrator in Huntington, Fort Wayne and North Manchester area for Stampin’ Up! She previously taught school in Concord Indiana from 1971 to 1974. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed Wally ball and stamping with friends. She spent many hours at the Ronald McDonald House making cards for the patients and their families.
Mary Ellen is survived by her friend, caregiver and former husband, Tony Scheiber, Huntington, IN; one son, James (Jim) Douglas Scheiber, Huntington, IN. Three grandchildren, Ayden Scheiber of Warren, IN Levaeh Dodd of Marion, IN and Avery Scheiber of Huntington, IN. Two Sisters, Joan L. Young of McKinney, TX, and Nancy S. Sutton of Gibson City, IL; a brother, Carl G. (Susan) Zinsmeister; and a sister-in-law, Madalyn Zinsmeister both of Huntington, IN; also a brother-in-law Paul Steffen along with many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole Marie Scheiber; one brother, James E. Zinsmeister; and one sister, Ethel Marie Steffen.
Calling hours will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, Indiana 46750.
A funeral service will follow the calling at 3:00 pm at the McElhaney – Hart Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hoffer and Pastor Rick Hines officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Cancer Services of Huntington County or Parkview Huntington Hospice both in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
A private burial will be at a later date.
