Mary Ellen Hurst, 92, of Goshen, formerly of Gas City, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She was born July 15, 1930 in Napoleon, Ohio to E.M. and Bertha Mae (Austmiller) Fetter. They preceded her in death. On May 20, 1950 she married George Hurst, Jr. He died March 16, 1988.

While residing in Gas City, she and George were members of St. John Lutheran Church. Mrs. Hurst worked in the personnel department at RCA (Thomson) until her retirement in 1989. Mary Ellen moved to Goshen in the fall of 1989. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Tuesday Ladies Group. She enjoyed traveling with the Tuesday Ladies and greatly appreciated their friendship. Mary Ellen loved helping to care for her grandchildren and attending their school and athletic events. Her little dog, Lucy became a trusted companion in her later years. Visits back to Marion always included lunch with RCA Retirees and her dear friend, Mrs. Mary Futrell.

Mary Ellen is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Sandy (Hal) Bartley of Goshen, Mrs. Sue Ellen (Steve) Wampner of Marion and Mrs. Connie (Keith) Lowe of Goshen; eight grandchildren, Matthew Bartley of Goshen, Adam Bartley of Brownsburg, Andrew (Timberlee) Bartley of Goshen, Ryan (Brenda Bridwell) Bartley of Goshen, Lyndsay Friedman of Goshen, Courtney Lowe of South Bend, Hayley (Daniel) Pifer of Marion and Tyler Lowe of Goshen. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ariana and Reid Bartley, Mason and Miles Bartley, Conner Bartley, Brooklyn and Koltyn Friedman, Bentley Antes, and Kinley and Eli Pifer.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 South Main St., Goshen.

There will also be visitation Monday, November 21, beginning at 10 a.m. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN 46933, where a 1 p.m. funeral service will be held. Pastor Joel Gearhart will officiate.

Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
