Marsha Ann (Poor) Ellis

 

Marsha Ann (Poor) Ellis, 84, Gas City, passed away in her home at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018.  She was born in Gas City on September 13, 1933, to Robert and Elizabeth (Poor) Graham.  She was adopted and raised by her grandparents, John “Smitty” and Dora (Mitchell) Poor.

Marsha was a graduate of Mississinewa High School and a member of the Gas City First Baptist Church.  She married Kenneth Lee Ellis on September 13, 1950, in Marion, and they shared nearly 68 years together.  Marsha was a bookkeeper and worked at Montgomery Ward and Chronicle-Tribune.  She retired in 2007 from Mississinewa Community Schools’ administrative office after 41 years of service.  She loved her family without question.  She also loved animals, especially cats and squirrels, and liked to watch the birds.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth, Gas City; daughter, Deborah (William) Hunnicutt, Marion; son, Randy (Dedra) Ellis, Gas City; grandson, Ryan Muncy; great-granddaughters, McKenna, Gas City, and Theresa, Michigan; great-grandsons, Elijah and Chase, both from Marion; great-great-grandsons, Koletyn Lee, Gas City, and Pierson, Michigan; step-grandchildren, Courtney, Randi, and Conner, all from Gas City; step-great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Brinley, and Jackson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William (Cookie) Ellis, California; special niece and nephew, Andrew (Mary) Ellis and their sons, Shelby and Tyler; and special cats, Simba, Teeney, and Black Cat.

Preceding her in death were her parents; grandparents; brother, Dr. Frederick Poor; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Lou Ellis.

The family will receive visitors from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Services to celebrate Marsha’s life will be held at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018.  Burial will follow at Marion National Cemetery.
