Nytarion Ray Callahan
MARION,Indiana – On Friday morning in Grant County Circuit Court sentence was handed down in connection with a rape and burglary of a Marion woman. Nineteen-year-old Nytarion Ray Callahan was sentenced to 40 years in prison with four years suspended for 12 counts of rape, one count of robbery, one count of burglary and one count of conspiracy to commit rape. Callahan was also sentenced to four years probation during which he must seek counseling. According to state law, Callahan must serve 75% of his sentence. Callahan had pleaded guilty and before the sentencing he wanted to change his plea and go for a jury trial but, the judge said no and the sentence was announced. Callahan stands accused and now convicted along with two other teenagers of the charges. The others received similar sentences. Callahan’s lawyer tried to argue extenuating circumstances and the fact that the 19-year-old thought the sex was consensual but the judge denied the request.
