Marion man dies in Grant County crash

Grant County, IN – March 22, 2024, just before 5:30 p.m., the Indiana State Police and the Marion Police Department responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Western Avenue near 4th Street in Marion, IN.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Abby Russell revealed that Antwone Williams, 19, Marion, IN, was driving a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan traveling southbound on Western Avenue, approaching 4th Street. Evidence indicates the Dodge continued southbound into the intersection of 4th Street, striking a 1989 Ford Ranger on the driver’s side.

The driver of the 1989 Ford Ranger was identified as James Miller, 56, of Marion, IN. Miller was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Williams sustained minor injuries in the crash while his passenger was uninjured.

This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation, and there is no further information to release at this time. Notification to the family of the deceased has been made.

Trooper Russell was assisted by members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post, Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team, the Marion City Police Department, the Marion Fire Department, Marion Health, Grant County Coroner, Grant County EMS Medic 1, and Shrouts Towing.
