Marilyn Joan Hoy Hipskind

Marilyn Joan Hoy Hipskind, 87, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 1:45 am, Thursday, February 15, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on September 19, 1936, in Wabash, Indiana, to Russell L. and Mary Helen (Weesner) Myers.

Marilyn was a 1954 graduate of Wabash High School. She first married Jon C. Hoy in Plymouth, Indiana on January 10, 1958; he died February 21, 1998. She then married Karl Thomas “Tom” Hipskind at St. Bernard Catholic Church on June 3, 2006. Marilyn worked as a secretary to the plant manager at Wabash Magnetics, continued her career as an executive secretary at the General Tire and Rubber Company and retired from what was later known as GenCorp. She was a member and past president of the National Secretaries Association, Wanaseca Chapter in Wabash and named Secretary of the Year. She was a lifetime member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Marilyn began singing in the church choir with her sisters and their mother was the church organist for many years. She was active in Religious Education for eight years. Marilyn was also active in the Honeywell Swim Team where all four children participated. She loved Notre Dame football and traveled to California, Florida, Tennessee, & Hawaii to watch them play.  

She is survived by her husband, Tom Hipskind of Wabash; four children, Kris (Steve) Fox, Jerry Hoy, and Jon Hoy II, all of Wabash, and Jeffry Hoy of Cleveland, Tennessee; step children, Laura McNeal of Knoxville, Tennessee, Keith Hipskind of Greensburg, Indiana, Kathy (Bill) Early and Stephen (Kathy) Hipskind, both of Wabash, Julie (Rick) Prickett of Nashville, Tennessee, and Phillip Hipskind of Greer,  South Carolina, grandchildren, Abby (Jeff) Traver, Heather (Jarrod) McKee, Jordan (Dan) Johnson, Jessica Hipskind, and Britany Hoy, all of Wabash, Jon Hoy III of Indianapolis, Bobby (Sarai Justice) Hoy of Huntington, Chad (Emily Cogswell) Hoy of Albany, New York, Matthew Early of Grants, New Mexico, Ellen (Pranay) Agrawal of Santa Clara, California, Christy (Scott) Capps of Knoxville, Brad (Val) Prickett, Rich (Alejandra) Prickett, Megan (Hunter) Stricklin, all of Nashville, Kelly (Carla) Hipskind of Carmel, Kate (Hector) Aguilar of St. Peter, Minnesota, Kara (Matt) Faley of Peoria, Illinois, Carly Craun of Greer, South Carolina, and Craig (Katie) Craun of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 39 great grandchildren; twin brother, Marland (Gloria) Myers of New Haven, Indiana, and her sister, Linda (Carl) Zierman of Lincoln, California.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Beverly Hight and Sue Middleton, brother-in-laws, Fred Hight and George Middleton; and daughter-in-law, Penny Hipskind.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 188 W. Sinclair, Wabash, with Father Jay Horning officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of St. Bernard in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 4-7 pm Tuesday at the church. Rosary services will be 7 pm Tuesday. Preferred memorials are Carson’s Fighters Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
