Margaret S. Cummings, 95, Gas City, passed away in her home at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, January 4, 1928, to Jess and Ruth (Hutchison) Rogers. On April 26, 1951, she married Russell Phillip Cummings, Sr. and he survives.
Margaret graduated from Jefferson High School and worked as an inspector for 28 years with RCA, retiring in 1985. Her and her husband, Russell spent 37 wonderful years part-time in Seminole and Largo Florida. She loved bowling in her earlier days, crocheting and knitting, dancing, BINGO, canning vegetables, playing cards, and making Sunday chicken and noodle dinners. Most of all she loved spending time with family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.
Along with her husband, Russell Phillip Cummings, Sr., survivors also include her daughter, Donna (Dan) Cummings-Howard of Sarasota, FL; son, Russell Phil (fiancée, Sandy Bryant) Cummings, Jr. of Gas City; grandchildren, Kim (Jason) Barnes, Kirk (Lisa) Howard, Heather (Michael) Downing, Tiffany (Jaime) Embry, Wesley Cummings, Caitlyn (Rob) Reamer; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Austin, Luke, Brett, Easton, Emma, Lexi, Dolen; great-great grandchildren, Camdyn, Athena, Kayden; siblings, Robert “Sonny” Gray, Jean DeCamp, Rick (Rita) Rogers; and special great-niece, Lori Goss-Reeves.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess Rogers and Ruth (Hutchison) Bradford; son, Michael Cummings; and six siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Margaret’s life will begin at 4:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
