Marcus E. Cannon

Marcus E. Cannon, 84, Marion, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on July 26, 1937, to Quentin Cannon and Clara (Wilson) Vance.

Marcus attended Marion Community Schools. He served his country in the United States Army and was part of the 82nd airborne division during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1957. Following his military service, he worked at General Motors and retired after 30 years of service. Marcus and Blanch were married on February 12, 2000, in Marion. He attended Grace Ambassadors Bible Fellowship.

Marcus was a very active person. He loved the water, boating, skiing, tubing, camping (especially at Dale Hollow Reservoir), reading, studying scripture, and “junking”. He also loved bicycling, rollerblading, skating, and riding motorcycles. Marcus enjoyed working out and was always at the gym.

Survivors include his wife, Blanch (Nichols) Cannon; children, Dominique Hayes, Milton (Lindsey) Cannon, Dino (Daphne) Cannon, Tracy Cannon, Marceia Cannon, Perpetual Clanton, Terris (Delshon) Dixon, and Kendrick (LaToya) Dixon; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Cannon; sister-in-law, Mary Cannon; special nephew and niece, Nojir (Kathleen) Jeffries and Renee Jeffries; and a host of extended family and friends. Also, the family would like to acknowledge Barbara Griffin and Rhonda (William) Dorsey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Quentin Cannon; mother, Clara (Bill) Vance; brothers, Quentin Cannon, Raymond Cannon, Ronald Cannon, and Jesse Cannon; sister, Janice Jeffries; son, John White; and grandson, Dino Cannon.

The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, December 13, 2021, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, a graveside service for Marcus will take place at 11:00 am at Marion National Cemetery.
