Larry R. Swim, 71, Gas City, passed away at 10:28 am on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. He was born in Maysville, Kentucky, on Sunday, December 10, 1950, to Ora and Tansey Kathleen (Bigelow) Bishop. On September 11, 1982, he married Ilona Mackler and she survives.
Larry graduated from Manchester High School worked as a truck driver for 20 years with Dunham’s Sporting Goods, retiring in 2021. He was awarded by the Indiana Trucker’s Association the “Million Mile Safe Driver” award. He loved his pets and dog, Emma.
Along with his wife, Larry is also survived by his children, Kristel Baker of New Palestine, Christopher Swim of Gas City, Kenny Blessing of CA; grandchildren, Isaiah Baker, Brooklyn Baker, Nicholas Baker, Alina Baker; sister, Juanita (Larry) Stephenson; and beloved dog, Emma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ora Swim and Tansey Kathleen Bishop; step father, Tony Reynold Bishop; and brother, Ronald Swim.
At the family’s request there will be private services. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
