Larry Mylan Slater

Larry Mylan Slater, 72, of Peru, Indiana, died at 3:55 pm, Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.  He was born on July 8, 1950, in Wabash, Indiana, to Dean Mylan and Ethel (Babb) Slater.

Larry was a 1968 graduate of Northfield High School and a US Army veteran. He worked as a DJ several years, farmed and also worked at Lowe’s in Kokomo. Larry was a past president of the Roann Jaycees and a former member of the Roann Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, loved John Deere, and making model cars and farms.  

He is survived by two children, Brent Slater of Bunker Hill, Indiana, and Brenda (Chad) Abbott of Logansport, Indiana; four grandchildren, Austin Abbott, Clint Abbott, and Shena Abbott, all of Logansport, and Abbey Slater of Bunker Hill, Indiana; four great grandchildren, three sisters, Sandra Vaught of O’fallon, Illinois, Paulette (John) Kates of Akron, Indiana, and Deanne (Mike) Justice of Plymouth, Indiana; nieces and nephews, Lisa (Dave) Nelson of St. Louis, Missouri, Craig Burnworth of Etna Green, Indiana, Mandy Kates of Akron, Indiana, and Ryan (Connie) Kates of New Palestine, Indiana; and five great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a Celebration of Larry’s life at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Roann.
