Larry Lee Turner, Sr.

Larry Lee Turner, Sr., 71, Marion, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.  A lifelong resident of Marion, Larry was born on January 23, 1947, to the late Vaughn and Charlotte D. (Bonham) Turner.  He married his sweetheart, Brenda Jean Clymer, on June 14, 1969, and she survives.

Larry was a graduate of Marion High School and worked at IUOE Local #103, where he was a heavy equipment operator.  He was a huge Marion Giants fan and was a regular attender of their games.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and having cook-outs at his son’s house.  He was true sports enthusiast and loved watching NASCAR and drag racing while drinking his beer.  Larry was also known for how he liked to poke fun at people.  Most of all, he loved his family and the times he could spend with them.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Brenda; son, Larry Turner, Jr., Marion; grandchildren, Ariel (Justin) Holmes, Gas City, Daniel Stamps Turner, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and Gabriel (Kimberly Eads) Stamps, Marion; great-grandsons, Ryker Holmes, Rowan Stamps, and Gage Gifford; great-granddaughter, Madison Gifford; brother, Vaughn (Linda) Turner; nephews, Jeff and Joe Turner; and niece, Jennifer Bahr.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Larry’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.  Pastor John Petty will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
