Kathryn “Katy” Lea Weirich

Kathryn “Katy” Lea Weirich, 92, Delphi, formerly of Marion, went to be with the Lord at 9:22 am on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. She was born in Corning, Arkansas, on Sunday, January 17, 1932, to Virgil and Iva Pearl (Crown) Mahaney. She was married to Raymond Eugene Weirich, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2013.  

Katy had worked at JC Penney, as well as Marion Community Schools, where she was a teacher’s aide.  She was a member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church.

When people think of Katy, they think of love.  She had a love for everyone because that love came from the Lord.  She loved her family and was the best grandma of them all.  She grew up in Arkansas and loved living there.  Katy also loved playing cards, Dominoes, crocheting, and traveling.  She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathy (Warren) Johnson of Peru and Cynthia Lynn (Steve) Wright of Marion; sister, Laura Miller of AR; grandchildren, Christy (David) Birnell of Peru, Michael (Misty) Grayson of Peru, Stephanie (Jeff) Burnau of Marion, Stacey Lea (Jason) Konazeski of Marion, Ryan Grayson of IN, Derek (Olivia) Wright of Marion, Amanda (Jeremy) Leazenby-Bruce of Peru, Kyle (Shelbey) Johnson of Peru, Zach (Kimmie) Weirich of Marion, Damon Weirich of Marion, Wray Collier of Marion, Jackie Smith of Marion, Allison Quick of Marion, Megan (Dave) Hawes of Indianapolis, and Kristen Hartman of Kokomo; sister-in-law, Zelda Mahaney; 30 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Keith Alan Weirich; brother, J.C. Mahaney; sister, Barbara (Sylvan) Carroll; and brother-in-law, Dennis Miller.

The family will receive visitors from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Kathryn’s life will begin at 4:00 pm with Del Garcia officiating.  Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
