Karen J. Shatzer, age 72, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday May 17, 2017 at 11:47 am at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She worked as a waitress at Turks in Roanoke and at the counter at Roanoke Lanes Bowling Alley. She was a member of Southwest Church of Christ, Fort Wayne, collected angels, and loved animals and flowers.
Karen was born January 5, 1945, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Robert and Audrey (Kilpatrick) Mueller. On September 28, 1963, she married her beloved husband Thomas W. Shatzer in Fort Wayne. He passed away November 8, 2007. She is survived by 2 sons Tom (Karen) Shatzer of Roanoke and Scott Shatzer of Roanoke, a brother Robert Allen Mueller of Fort Wayne and a niece Kris Krummen. She was preceded in death by a sister Sandra Krummen
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, May 21 from 1-3 pm at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes. Burial will be at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke.
