Judith “Judy” A. (Long) Winters February 7, 1943 ~ July 15, 2017

Judith “Judy” A. (Long) Winters, 74, Marion, died on July 15, 2017. She lived all her life in Grant County and was born to John M. and Dorothy (Atkinson) Long on February 7, 1943. She attended Landess grade school for 8 years and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1961. Judy’s husband, Larry E. Winters, survives. They were married in 1962 and resided in the same home for 55 years.

She worked at Moon’s Drive-In, Hook’s Drug Store, Indiana Employment Security Division, and the Grant County Welfare Department before starting her family. Judy stayed home raising her two sons until 1976, at which time she began working for Westside Assembly as their receptionist and secretary. She worked there for 23 years for Pastors A.W. Thomason, Johnny Garrison, and Larry Gallaway.

Judy attended Landess Christian Church during her childhood and into her teens, serving as their pianist. She was also the pianist at Northwestern Baptist Church and Westside Assembly, where she also ministered in song during services. In later years, she was an assistant pianist for Healing Heart Church.

One great accomplishment in life, of which Judy was very proud, was raising her two sons to be fine men who love and serve God.

Survivors include sons, Bret (Laura) Winters and Bryon (Melissa) Winters; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Zachary, Gracelyn, and Gabrielle; sisters, Elaine (Allen) Dixon, Linda McCormick, and Nancy Harlan; brother, Bill (Sharon) Long; sister-in-law, Pat Long; and brother-in-law, Bob Angell.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her sisters, Sandra Berry and Ruth Angell, and her brother, John Long.

The family will receive visitors from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 5909 S. Jay St, Marion, IN. A funeral service for Judy will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Gallaway officiating. Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Marion.
