Joyce E. Ludlow

Joyce E. Ludlow, 85, Gas City, passed away in her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was born in Bloomdale, Ohio, on April 10, 1938, to Claude and Thelma (Ritchey) Haughawout.  On February 24, 1962, she married George R. Ludlow, and he preceded her in 2021.

She graduated from Bloomdale High School then went to Bowling Green University to further her education. She loved reading, gardening, puzzles, crafting and quilting. She was a great seamstress and an excellent baker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gas City since 1976 where she was in the women’s group. She really enjoyed her Sunday School group; they meant a lot to her. Joyce loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She worked at Mississinewa High School as the library clerk. She also owned a farm market for several years during the ’90s. Joyce was loved and will be missed by many people.

Survivors include her children, Karen (Jay) Worrell and Bruce Ludlow; grandchildren, Alison Ludlow, Matthew (Jessica) Worrell, Megan (Kiersten) Worrell, Morgan Worrell, Taylor White, Claire Ludlow, Kara Gilmore, Aaron (Jill) Gilmore, Tanner (Maria) Ludlow; great-grandchildren, Liam, Lanie, Maren, Myles, Luke, Moses, Kelsey, Courtney, and Anthony; and siblings, Nancy Inglis, Terry (Joan) Haughawout and Linda Whitney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Ludlow; parents, Claude and Thelma Haughawout; and two sons, Jerry Ludlow and Brad Ludlow.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Monday, April 1, 2024, at First United Methodist Church – Gas City, 213 E. S. A St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Joyce’s life will begin at 3:00 pm with Pastor Carolyn Mikesell officiating.  Burial will take place at Weaver Cemetery – Wood County, Ohio.
