Joyce Ann Bennett Dunn

Joyce Ann Bennett Dunn passed into the arms of Jesus on May 27 surrounded by her 3 daughters. She was born on March 19, 1934 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late, Golda (Luellen) and Walter Bennett. She graduated from Kokomo High School in 1952.  She married James R. Dunn on April 5, 1953, who predeceased her.

Joyce retired from the VA Medical Center in 1992 where she received many excellence awards. She previously was a stay-at-home mother and bookkeeper for H & H Auto Sales in Marion. She volunteered for many organizations over the years.

She deeply loved her church (Friends Church in Jonesboro) and her many friends there.

She loved and cherished her friends and spent the last few years of her life with her beloved “bestie” and her close friends traveling to concerts, plays and luncheons. Joyce was a kind person and she made those around her feel welcome and accepted with her warmth.

She was spunky, independent, strong, and always ready for an adventure, especially with her beloved daughters. She loved to sing and would break into a dance move unexpectedly at any moment. She belonged to euchre clubs most all her adult life and played cards up until the last 6 months of her life.

Joyce is survived by her 3 children (her girls), Debbie Dunn Johnson, Diane Lynn Dunn Weiant (Toby), Kelly Lee Dunn Yetter (Greg); and her sister-in-law, Jackie Dunn Brown.

She has 8 surviving grandchildren and was cherished by:  Abby Dunn Carter, Kara Martin, Nate Gilbert (Megan), Hannah High (Tory), Emily Stadstad (Erik), Maggie Yetter, Laura Weiant, and Lydia Weiant. She has 9 great grandchildren, Asa Stadstad, Bradley and Rosie Martin, Elliott and PJ Gilbert, Charlie Carter, Gordon, Evalyn and Emory High and her former sons-in-law, David Martin and Tavaris Carter.

She has many nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved and was a kind of surrogate mother to “the twins” (Greg and Jeff) and Brad Bennett.
