JB Buchanan, 84, of Marion, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 26, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. He was born on July 8, 1938, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, from the union of Sam and Louise Buchanan. JB was the second of four siblings–Sam Buchanan, Rose Pittman, and Frances Mosley, who are all deceased.
JB Buchanan joined the US Air Force and earned the rank of Master Sergeant, while specializing as a Physician’s Assistant. He retired after 26 years. JB earned an associate degree in accounting from IVY Tech College in 1988 as he worked at Grissom AFB as an Optician. JB then completed five more years of government service at the Marion VA Hospital before ending his work career with a total of 31 years in government service. JB Buchanan also was a 32nd degree Past Master Mason of Keystone Lodge in Kokomo, Indiana.
JB was an avid car enthusiast with an interest in fast and luxurious cars. He also loved jazz music, a good cigar, barbecuing, family, and friends.
JB leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Diane Buchanan; son, Shawn Buchanan; daughter, Quninnka Sanders Buchanan; step-children, Javita Barnett and Jamar Barnett; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends; and special friends, Ray Eddington and Melvin McCoy.
The family will receive visitors from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A Masonic service will begin at 11:30 am followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 noon.
