Joseph Earl McGinnis, 77, Gas City, passed away at 5:10 pm on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Tuesday, August 27, 1946, to Earnest and Maxine (Stith) McGinnis.
Joseph graduated from Mississinewa High School and worked as a machine operator for PCA. Was a member of The Mississinewa Battlefield Society, was active with Ducktail Run, and very involved in the Gas City Community. He donated toys all the time to Twin City We Care. He was a member of the local Tea Party and was a big supporter of Concerts in the Park and attended most of them because he enjoyed music of all sorts. He liked photography and photographed a lot at 1812. He enjoyed gun shows and collecting guns. He loved attending car shows. He Loved doting on his grandchildren. He also enjoyed animals. In younger years, he enjoyed basketball and karate. He had a huge collection of movies and loved attending movies. He was always a lover of a good sale and a good joke.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber (Austin) Lamb of Noblesville; and grandsons, August, and Aemon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest J. and Maxine McGinnis; as well as his daughter, Sonya.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Joseph’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor Gregg Gentry will be officiating with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
