Jesse Williams, Jr.

Jesse Williams, Jr., 78, Marion, passed away at 10:07 am on Friday, October 16, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on Saturday, February 7, 1942, to Jesse and Willie Mae (Gulley) Williams. He was married to his beloved bride, Annie Carson, for 50 years.

Jesse attended Jr. High in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and later studied at Anderson University. He was a supervisor at Dana Corp., worked for Essex Wire, and retired from Thomson Consumer Electronics in 2003. He also owned and operated J & A Asphalt since 1973.

Jesse was a member of Greater Second Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was also a former Mason and member of the Marion Male Chorus. Jesse enjoyed traveling and will be remembered as a child of God, a hard worker, and one who loved his family and his church.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Williams of Marion; sons, Steven (Teresa) Williams of Marion and Robert Williams of Milwaukee, WI; daughters, Teresa (Melvin) Hill of Sacramento, CA, and Lashonda (Florentino) Parish of Michigan City; sisters, Lucille Johnson and Elizabeth (Fred) Dawson; brothers, James (Dottie) Williams and Jethro (Katie) Williams; grandchildren, Robert Penigar, Antonio Penigar, Shaquail Williams, Dewayne Williams, Keirn Clayton, III, and Keshia Collins; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest Williams.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 705 W. 26th St., Marion, IN. The family requests that masks be worn for the visitation and service.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jesse’s life will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Benny L. Powell, Sr., officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
