Jerry Wayne Herman, 71, of Greenwood, IN, passed away at 6:22 AM on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis, IN. He was born on Tuesday, May 27, 1947, in Adams Co., IN. He married Rebecca “Candi” Sullivan on Saturday, June 27, 1970 in Elizabeth City, NC. Jerry was a 1967 graduate of South Adams High School, after high school he served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a 20-year resident of the Greenwood area. He moved to Greenwood from Smithfield, VA. Jerry was a former Supervisor of Gwaltney Corporation. He was a history buff, who enjoyed western movies and woodworking. Jerry was a member of the American Legion and VFW Post, both of Greenwood.
Survivors include: Wife – Rebecca “Candi” (Sullivan) Herman, Greenwood, IN, Son – Kevin (Natasha) Herman, Chester, VA, Son – Dwain Herman, Greenwood, IN, Grandchildren – Latrisha Herman, Cody Herman, Michael Herman, Abigail Herman, Elizabeth Herman, Taylor Herman, Brother – Leonard Herman, Geneva, IN and Sister – Freida Stevens, Decatur, IN.
He was preceded in death by his: Father – Charles Herman, Mother – Dorothy (Caves) Herman, Sisters – D. Maxine Burgess, Ellen Butcher, Brothers – Wesley Herman, James Herman and Richard Herman.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home 100 N Washington Street Geneva on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Military Rites will be held at the funeral home at 8:00 PM.
