Rev. John A. Pattison

Rev. John A. Pattison, 87, of Warren, IN, passed away at 5:17 PM on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN. He was born on February 10, 1931, in Hartford City, IN to Harley S. & Bertha (Rea) Pattison. He married Delores J. “Dee” Taylor on July 3, 1952 in Muncie, Indiana. He was a 1949 graduate of Mississinewa High School, he received his B.A. Degree at Taylor University in 1957, his Master of Divinity Degree at Garret Theological in 1961, and a Master of Sacred Theological Degree in 1971 from Christian Theological Seminary.

Rev. Pattison was a Pastor, Elder, in the North Indiana Conference (now known as The Indiana Conference) of the United Methodist Church, where he retired in 1994. He served United Methodist Churches in Indiana: Keystone, Sims, LaFontaine, Topeka, Summitville, Anderson, Muncie, Indianapolis (Speedway), Wakarusa, Somerset, Twelve Mile, Nine Mile (Ft. Wayne), and Van Buren. After retirement he served Elwood Grace UMC, Visitation Pastor at Huntington Trinity UMC and he served as a Chaplain for 15 years at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #711 F & AM in Van Buren, Past Master of the Lodge and member of the Scottish Rite Valley and Mizpah Temple of the Shrine, both of Ft. Wayne. He was a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors for many years. Rev. Pattison enjoyed fishing, golfing, walking, he loved classic westerns and watching sports. While fighting Parkinson’s disease, he still sought to help others. He logged over 5,000 hours volunteering for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.

Steve) Fritchman, Jonesboro, IN, Brother – James (Wife, Sue) Pattison, Jacksonville, FL, Brother – David (Wife, Lana) Pattison, Gas City, IN, 6 Grandchildren – Arin (Husband, Josh) Skaggs, Erlanger, KY, Luke Pattison, Bloomington, IN, Zachary (Wife, Kirsty) Pattison, Lafayette, IN, Matthew Pattison, Ft. Wayne, IN, Megan Fritchman, Kokomo, IN, Morgan Fritchman, Jonesboro, IN and 2 Great Grandchildren-Esther and Malachi Skaggs.

He was preceded in death by his: Father – Harley S. Pattison, Mother – Bertha (Rea) Pattison, Daughter – Traci Jeanne Pattison, and Brother – Ronald Pattison.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel 801 Huntington Ave. Warren on Friday, February 8, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday evening at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel. Additional viewing hours will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel on Saturday, February 9, 2019; one hour before the service.

A service to celebrate Rev. Pattison’s life will be at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 with Pastor Paul C. Burris and Chaplain Gerald Moreland officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Gas City.
