Jerry R. Mooneyhan (Moondog)

Jerry R. Mooneyhan (Moondog), 63, of Peru, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. Jerry was born in Peru on September 5, 1955 to Ray Mooneyhan and the late, Joyce (Binnion) Maynard.

Jerry joined the Army in 1972 and served in Korea. Upon his arrival back in the states he was stationed in Colorado Springs until his discharge in 1976. He then returned home to Peru, where he went to work at Levin’s scrap yard before working at Safeway Steel and then the Peru Foundry until it caught fire. He then retired from Bryan Steam after 20 years of service in 2009.

He is survived by his wife; Jackie Mooneyhan, of Peru, children; Jason Hamilton, Arizona, Kathrinn Schaefer (Ross), Missouri, Joanie Hamilton Chambers, Oklahoma, Jerry Mooneyhan, Peru, brother; Michael Gibson (Debbie), Peru, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Jack and Ida Binnion, step-father; Dean Conklin and an aunt; Shirley McCarter.
