James “Artie” Benefiel

James “Artie” Benefiel, 94, of Warren, IN, passed away at 12:24 AM on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN.  He was born on Tuesday, March 18, 1924, in Madison County, IN.  He married Ruth E. (Plummer)  Benefiel on Saturday, July 01, 1944 in Van Buren Township; she passed on December 6, 2017 after 73 years of marriage.  James “Artie” was a 1943 graduate of Van Buren High School. He served his country in the US Army from 1943-1946 serving during WWII. He had worked for DeWeese, Wayne Metal, and was a retired farmer. Artie was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist church, Van Buren American Legion # 368, and Mt. Etna Masonic Lodge # 333.

 

Loving Survivors include his Sons – Glen (Rita) Benefiel, Warren, IN, John (Connie) Benefiel, Sun City, AZ, Howard Benefiel, Bluffton, IN, Daughter – Carol Secttor, Marion, IN,Grandsons – Tony (Donna) Benefiel, Warren, IN, John (Hope) Benefiel, Phoenix, AZ, Granddaughters – Tracie Benefiel, Phoenix, AZ, Michele (Noel) McDonald, Hartford City, IN,  Lora (Ron) Clarke, Hartford City, IN,9 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren,  Sister – Mary Newland, Anderson, IN, Sister-in-laws – Martha Plummer, Warren, IN, Glenna Plummer, Bluffton, IN, and many Nieces & Nephews.

 

 

He was preceded in death by his Father – Harry J. Benefiel, Mother – Sara (Bronnenburg) Benefiel, Wife – Ruth E. (Plummer) Benefiel, Brother – Earl Benefiel, Brother – Forrest Benefiel,  Sister – Orpha Brooks and  Brother-in-laws – John Plummer,  Howard Plummer.

 

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel  801 Huntington Ave Warren on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday, November 19, 2018.

 

A service to celebrate his life will be at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2018 with the Pastor Lucinda Osgood & Pastor Dick Case officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory in Marion. Military rites will be conducted by the US Army.
