Jacqueline Ellen Russell, 91, Gas City, passed away at 11:55 am on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Gas City, Indiana, on Tuesday, November 10, 1931, to Marshall and Ethel (Benbow) Morris. She married Robert Ralph Russell, Jr., on August 18, 1948 and he preceded her.
Jacqueline worked at Kroger and then Miller’s Super Value in Florida until her retirement. She was a member of Buella Baptist Church in Florida. She loved traveling on the motorcycle to NASCAR races with her husband. She enjoyed working in the yard, folks called her “Rake Lady'” down in Florida. She loved her family and would even take the grandkids down to Florida during their entire summer break through their school years. Grannie Annie was her nickname.
Survivors include her daughter, Belinda Sue Greene-Christmas of Gas City; grandsons, Richard (Tracey) Greene of Marion, Frank (Angie) Greene, Jr. of Jonesboro, Andrew Russell of North Carolina; granddaughter, Katianne Haecker of Muncie; sisters, Helen Stevens of Gas City, Marsha Kay (Jerry) White of Marion; brothers, Richard (Norma) Morris of Matthews, Jerry (Rita) Morris of Texas; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Russell; parents, Marshall and Ethel Morris; grandson, Robert Michael Greene; sons-in-law, Franklin D Greene, William Christmas; brother, Harold Morris; sisters, Marrianne Briles, Ruth Cook, Cathy Morris; and son, Michael Russell.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jacqueline’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory – Marion.
