Irene Lucille Parrett

Irene Lucille Parrett , 90 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Community Howard Hospital in Kokomo, Indiana.

She was born to King and Eva Howell on August 13, 1927.  She married William F. Parrett on February 28, 1948 and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on February 28, 2018.

She is survived by her spouse William Parrett, two daughters, Beth Ann (Dr. Robert) Hardee, Penny (Rev. Leonard) Bailey. Two grandchildren, Mark (Dana) Bailey and Chad Bailey. Great grandchildren, Henry, Charlie and Ruby Bailey. She is also survived by a sister, Willa (Don) Bullock and many nieces and nephews. Also, last but not least, her beloved dog, Annie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, King and Eva Howell, her brothers, Jim, John, and Harold Howell, a sister Marjorie Trook.

A long time resident of Peru, Indiana, Irene attended and was a member of the Peru Church of the Nazarene, where she played the organ for 71 years. She had many roles, including treasurer, adult Sunday School teacher, playing piano for the children’s department and VBS, singing in a quartet , singing duets with her husband and many years ago singing and playing the accordion for the Church of the Nazarene radio program “Showers of Blessing.”  She worked many years at AGP as an inspector and at Dukes Hospital.  She loved to cook and made great feasts for all the holidays. You never went away hungry.  She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and Lori Hahn, her dear friend and caregiver… and, of course, Annie.  Many thanks to Dr. Mull for his wonderful care over the years.

Visitation will be held from 6pm – 8pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana.  Funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 331 West Sixth Street, Peru, Indiana, with Pastor Mark Elliott and Pastor Tony Winter officiating.  Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
