Harry Edward Grose, Sr., 77, Gas City, passed away at 9:37 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, January 13, 1946, to Leroy and Mary (McNeely) Grose. On April 3, 1999, he married Misty Dunning, who survives.
Harry graduated from Marion High School and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of SN (E-3) and was honorably discharged.
Following his military service, Harry retired from the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System.
He was a member of the Gas City Moose Lodge and VFW where he was three times Past Commander. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and gardening. Harry was an avid IU, NASCAR and BIG golf fan. He loved watching football. Actually, there was no sport he didn’t watch. He also loved playing his games on his tablet, especially ‘Candy Crush’. Most of all, he loved his family and his pets.
Along with his wife, survivors include his sons, Harry (Cathy) Grose, Jr. of Noblesville, Jerry Clift of Muncie; daughters, Tammy (Dave) Thiesing of Sandwich, MA, Pamela Grose of Perry, ME, Shelly Grose of Pompano Beach, FL; brother, Ronnie Grose; sister-in-law, Michal Grose of Marion; best friend & fishing buddy, Tom Kelly of Diamond Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Mary Grose; sisters, Shirley Cowgill, Phyllis Hawkins; and brother, Benny Grose.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Harry’s life will begin at 11:30 am with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
