The band God’s Country will be performing their final scheduled
show in Wabash Monday, July 4th from 8:00 to 10:00 PM prior to
the fireworks display at the Field of Dreams, according to their
manager Ron Garlits. The band was formed to provide a one time
show for Ron’s mom, Helen Garlits, 90th birthday open house six
years ago in Roann. Some people were there from the Roann
Covered Bridge Festival and asked them to play at the festival in
September. What was supposed to be one show evolved into a
fantastic six year run.
Lead vocalist Lisa Dunnagan and Tom Elshire, bass player will be
joined by Jerry Wade on vocals and drums, Bob Pilgrim on lead
guitar and Tim Young on keyboard. The show will consist of many
of the songs on God’s Country play list including several original
Gospel songs written by Lisa Dunnagan. Jerry Wade will also be
featured as vocalist on several of his traditional soags. The show
will end with a patriotic salute leading into the start of the fireworks
display.
Garlits and the rest of the band would like to thank the Wabash
community for the outstanding support they have received over the
past six years. Gadits also stated that for hlm it was a dream he
never expected to be part of. The highlight of the six years was being
able to perform on stage at the Ford Theater.
The band’s final performance will be in Miami County at Garden
Gate Greenhouse for their annual customer appreciation day on
Saturday September 10th from 10:30 to 1:30.
The band invites their supporters and the entire Wabash community
to join them on the 4th. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy.
